A huge part of my work at SEI was filming all the spectacular performances. The kids are super talented. This live event was filmed in HD on the Canon XH-A1 and downconverted later for the web. We often produced DVD’s of the competitions for distribution to the wider community. Filming dance is a dance itself. Anyone can put a camera on a tripod and press record; dynamic performance videos, whether dance, talk, or music, come from a direct line of communication between the cinematographer and the performers. This video highlights my ability to cultivate this communication, and its Youtube presence (136,000 views at time of writing) attests to this.
